I am a teacher. I have been a teacher for as long as I can remember. As a pre-schooler I would go with my mom to women’s meetings at church, gather the other kids around and “read” to them. When I was older, we had an extra space upstairs that I filled with old desks and a rejected church chalk board so I could play school with my siblings and friends. I enjoyed it a lot more than they did. I taught Vacation Bible School as soon as I was old enough and went to college to get my degree in Elementary Education. I taught at a public school for seven years and was on rotation to teach Sunday School at church. Once we had children, as a mother I was constantly teaching (parenting) and became the Children’s Education Director at our church. I also occasionally led adult Sunday School classes. Ten years later I began studying for a pastor’s license with our denomination. Now, as Executive Pastor, I preach a few times a year and teach a variety of classes.
Writing these devotionals is another avenue of teaching for me. I desire to honor God with what I write, to draw people into His Word, and bring practical understanding of scripture to life. I pray my words will be like Dew in the Morning, refreshing and life-giving.
“Listen, O heavens, and I will speak!
Hear, O earth, the words that I say!
Let my teaching fall on you like rain;
let my speech settle like dew.
Let my words fall like rain on tender grass,
like gentle showers on young plants.
I will proclaim the name of the Lord;
how glorious is our God!”
Deuteronomy 32:1-3 (NLT)
Each devotion is a part of a series intended to dig into the Word and apply it to daily life.
A prayer is added at the end to seal the learning by talking to God.
A verse is highlighted to emphasis the main point and provide focus from the teaching.
Links to corresponding songs are provided for a personal time of worship.
